Bauble of the Week...

We have been in the mood for a little bit of extravagance this week. For example, we came up with a brilliant plan to join the Ritz Carlton Spa in the Queen City because in our opinion you really are getting some bang for your buck. At $250 a month, you get unlimited access to the fitness center and the pool, 20% off all spa treatments and spa boutique purchases, an embroidered The Spa and Wellness center robe, and a locker with you name engraved on it. In addition, they launder your clothes that you are wearing upon arrival, hello FREE dry cleaning. In our opinion, they would basically be paying us to be members…how could we not join? Anyway, the rest of our week has consisted of a multitude of other similarly brilliant albeit extravagant ideas, which brings us to the Bauble of the Week. This stunner is from the Behold the Incredibles Harry Winston collection. We like it because well we are pretty sure this bauble speaks for itself…it is AMAZING. Also, it never hurts to set the bar high when it comes to baubles you want. Have a Happy Friday everyone! If anyone wants to get this for us to wear to the Fall Ball tomorrow night, we guess we could find a way to make it work with our outfit…

Bachelorette

I watched this movie recently and I thought it was great. Keep in mind I also loved The Romantics with Katie Holmes and co. It is definitely one for the girls, but it's not like Bridesmaids or The Hangover. It's way more realistic (in a you are a big party girl kind of way) and it's definitely a dark comedy. But the cast is amazing; I especially loved Kirsten Dunst in the role of the bitch and Isla Fisher as a ditsy, drug-loving party girl. And James Marsden was looking hot as usual.

               

If you like all kinds of movies, then give this one a chance. But if you tend to stick to mainstream movies I would definitely skip this one. I saw one review that called this movie a mix between The Hangover and Mean Girls.

Honey Roasted Sweet Potatoes

I have been asked for this recipe 3 times in the last 24 hours...it's so delicious. You MUST try it. It's also very easy. I didn't have a great picture on my computer but will replace as soon as I take a better one. (Should have done this last night when I made them!)

There were so many beautiful dresses at the Emmy's last night, but these were our favorites! So happy Homeland and Modern Family won big last night, and of course thrilled Maggie Smith won for Downton Abbey!

Go See: End of Watch

We went to see End of Watch this weekend and loved it. It was not at all what I was expecting. The movie is about two LA cops, Brian (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Mike (Michael Pena), who are not only partners but best friends. As they start to uncover evidence of human and drug trafficking by a Mexican drug cartel, they are marked for death. The movie is surprisingly funny, and feels very real. I highly recommend going to see it, but be prepared for lots of language and some very gruesome scenes. I truly have a new found respect for cops. Natalie Martinez and Anna Kendrick co-star and also do a great job.  Disclaimer: I did dream about killing people with machine guns after seeing it, which is a little disconcerting.

Ok we know, we know, we've been just a little obsessed with neon recently. We've just been incredibly excited for Girl Talk! Wouldn't this DANNIJO cuff be a perfect addition to all of our neon tonight? We think so too. Also, this is totally a wear now and later piece. You can't beat that!

A Little Humor For Your Thursday...

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. We are working on scheduling posts but it hasn't happened yet. Anyway starting yesterday I had a one track mind, and that was Girl Talk. I thought this was appropriate given that I usually feel this way after a night of drinking. I'm sure tonight will be no different.

Going to see Girl Talk to celebrate Ashley's birthday!! 

Last time I saw Girl Talk in NYC, I only had glow sticks in my purse. Hopefully that will be the case tomorrow as well.

When I recently saw LMFAO in Charlotte (another one of my favorites), I spent late night trying to re-inflate this dolphin I left with. Finally Graham and Frank told me I looked like I might pass out if I didn't stop, which is why they aren't invited to this concert. 

One thing I do know... I will be wearing flats. Probably my new keds, which I'm obsessed with.

Bauble of the Week: J.Crew Bracelets

I went into J.Crew yesterday and seriously wanted to buy every piece of jewelry that was on display. However, the bracelets are really what jumped out at me (and this one necklace but more on that another time). I mean they are just begging to be stacked to create a wonderful arm party. I don't know how you wouldn't instantly feel fabulous in any of these lust worthy baubles. I didn't end up going home with any, but I'm dying to own them all. They are all available here.

Unicef's Next Generation Presents The Fall Ball

Now that we are officially past Labor Day, we just wanted to remind all of you about The Fall Ball (we did a Save the Date post a while back). We have been involved with Unicef's Next Generation Charlotte chapter for the last few months and have been helping plan The Fall Ball. It benefits The Tap Project, which is a life saving mission to provide clean water to thousands in dire need around the world. It really is a great cause and we have enjoyed getting to be a part of this great organization. The Fall Ball is on September 29, and it's not only for a great cause it's going to be a blast!

Cocktail of the Week: Summer Brews

Yes it's after Labor Day, but here in the Queen City it still feels like summer so it counts. We know this is only our second cocktail of the week, but lets be honest if Kris pinot grigio was the cocktail every week that would be lame. So we are working on making more cocktails for all of you wonderful drinkers out there! This week's cocktail is given to us by some of our favorite cocktail drinkers- Ashley and Anna. Let me tell you...it's delicious and deceptively strong, just how we like it.

So good. Must serve at your next Mexican fiesta!

Here's how we did it... every one's name was put into an Excel workbook (some twice) and then we used a random number generator to pick a number (seen below). And then Lauren was the lucky winner!

Necklace Giveaway Update!

We will still be doing the giveaway today...it's just going to be a little after noon. You will now have until 2pm to like us on facebook and/or follow our blog. This is because I was out of commission yesterday (see picture below) and Kelley has been working in High Point all week! Labor Day Playlist

It's taken me until today to get back into the swing of things...crazy/pathetic I know. Anyway I have had some requests for the playlist we listened to most of Labor Day weekend so here's a sample. (I have to give most credit to Graham for providing the dance party music!) Also- Whitney's College Ipod was crucial, unfortunately I don't remember the songs from it, so that will be another playlist.
