And, yes she has been in costume all day!

Happy Halloween!
Since we have had sweet Ellie, Halloween has become one of our favorite holidays! We just can't resist the opportunity to dress her up in some ridiculous manner. This year we were a little last minute trying to decide what her costume would be. Yesterday, we went to Party City and Petsmart only to find they were running low on pet costumes, but we did find the awesome how pink wig from Petsmart. On a whim, we decided to try the baby department of Target and it did not disappoint. We found a tutu for a 3 month old, a Hello Kitty necklace, and a "Sing Loudly Dance A Lot" t-sthirt. Thus, we had the makings of a Nicki Minaj costume for sweet Elle, which actually turned out perfectly because if you have ever met her you know that she is quite the DIVA! Hope you have a Happy Halloween!

Go See: Argo
Our parents went to go see Argo the weekend it opened and called us almost daily to ask if we had seen it yet. Frank and I finally went to go see it about a week ago and LOVED it. It was one of the best movies I have seen in a while. The casting and acting were perfect. I will say though I had so much anxiety throughout the entire movie; I had to get up and walk out during the airport scene for a few minutes. If you haven't seen it go see it ASAP...it's great. If this movie doesn't win some major awards I will be very disappointed!!

John Goodman and Alan Arkin, these two add some humor to the movie
Ben Affleck is AMAZING in this movie, along with the rest of the cast.
This is the airport scene where I had to get up and walk out....major anxiety. Full disclosure: I had been on a plane home from NYC earlier in the day and had xanax in my system and STILL HAD ANXIETY. Maybe it was the drinking the night before?
When you go see the movie make sure you stay for the credits...there will be pictures of the actors next to the real people. Then you can truly appreciate how amazing the casting was!
All pictures from IMDB.

My Happy Place
One thing that did get my spirits up today was this painting I saw on One Kings Lane; it made me instantly imagine of being some place warmer. If I can't figure out a way to spend my winter in a tropical climate, I think the next best thing would be owning this painting. Wouldn't it make you happy every time you walked into the room?
Since I don't think my next paycheck is going to cover the cost of the painting, bills, and groceries, the good news is that Kate and I are going to one of our favorite spots, Naples, FL, for a long weekend to celebrate our dad's birthday this weekend...I'm thinking we will be able to put up with the cold weather until then.

Our Life
We saw this quote and thought it was pretty applicable to our lives. We obviously know that money can't buy happiness, but if we're being honest we wouldn't complain if we suddenly won the lottery.
Have y'all seen...
The clothing line Mcginn Collection? I was at Nordstrom the other day pretending I was a millionaire as usual and saw this line and was instantly OBSESSED. The clothes meet all of my criteria. They are well made, girly, and stylish. What more could a girl need? The only thing standing between me and these pieces is money, which is only a minor issue if you ask me...
Clearly, I am OBSESSED seeing that I have used the word "love" 4 times in this post so far. I would happily trade in my entire wardrobe for this line. Do yourself a favor and take a look at Mcginn on Nordstrom.com ....you will see where I am coming from. I mean I may or may not be drooling right now. If only I was a millionaire...

Bauble of the Week
We don't know about y'all, but we're getting to that point where our bank account balance is starting to look pretty pitiful and our next paycheck can't come fast enough. Therefore, we decided this week we'd pick a bauble that is affordable, but doesn't sacrifice any style. This necklace would be an awesome addition to anyone's wardrobe. The color makes it very neutral, and it could just as easily be worn with a t-shirt and jeans as it could be with a cocktail dress. Our favorite thing about this necklace? It is only $34. You can find this fabulous find here.
DVF Spring 2013 Ready to Wear
We know, we know, we are behind on the times. Fashion week was over a month ago and here we are just getting around to posting about the DVF Spring 2013 Ready to Wear show. Please forgive us for our tardiness on this post. We hope you still think we are cool enough to trust our fashion judgement...Anyway, let's get down to business. We always love Diane von Furstenberg. Let's be honest, it is hard not to. Her clothes are always girly, colorful, and very ladylike. Just look at some of these looks from the Spring 2013 show...
While we LOVE all of these looks, our favorite part about the DVF show were...
The BAUBLES of course!!!!
We mean seriously....How are AWESOME are those?! We've said it before, and we will say it again, when it comes to baubles BIGGER really is BETTER!
Naturally, we came to one conclusion...
So if you know where to find these things, PLEASE let us know!

Ellie's Halloween Costume
We have been debating for weeks about what Ellie was going
to be for Halloween this year. As you know, we try to take advantage of any
opportunity we can to dress Ellie up. For those of you who think this is cruel
of us, our sweet dad or D.O.D. (Dear Old Dad) as he likes to refer to himself,
sent us this link to a Wall Street Journal article this week about dog Halloween
costumes. Apparently, there are a lot of people who seem to enjoy dressing
their pets up as well. In fact in a recent study by the National Retail
Federation, 15% of 25.6 million respondents said they were planning to dress up
their pets for Halloween. Clearly, we are part of the 15%. Anyway, as Halloween
is fast approaching, we thought we’d share some hilarious pics of dog Halloween
costumes featured in this article as well as some of our favorite fashion
moments of Ellie’s. If you have any good ideas for Ellie’s costume this year,
please let us know because after seeing these costumes, the pressure
is clearly on…
Some Ellie's best looks to date....We obviously have to step up our game for Halloween this year because we don't want Ellie to be outdone!

The last two pictures were taken at 5:30 am this morning....As you can see, Ellie was not really in the mood to be playing dress up yet. Anyway, if you have any really good ideas for Ellie's costume this year, please send them our way!

Social Dress Shop
We got an email this week from Sarah who is launching an online boutique Social Dress Shop. She's celebrating her launch with a Pop Up Shop at Gallery Twenty Two (below Soul Gastrolounge on Central) on November 10 from 2-6pm. Here's the invitation below:
Can we just say how excited we are about this! This is the first weekend I will be back in town and as many of you know, I have a weakness for buying cocktail dresses! Especially with two weddings in December- this couldn't come at a better time. Some of the brands that will be featured are: Camilla and Marc, Naven, Annie Griffin, Kirribilla, Madison Marcus, Contrarian New York, Erin Featherston, Yumi Kim and Rory Beca. Seriously some of our favorite brands. On top of our favorite brands being in one place, Anne and Christine from On A String will be there showing off some of their amazing baubles. What more could you want?! I mean I feel like those of you that don't live in Charlotte will definitely need to come (talking to you Jane Andrews) and we can make a day out of it and end at Soul.
Make sure to check out Sarah's website and to follow her on twitter (@socialdressshop) for updated information!

Perfection
We were perusing Net-A-Porter today and came across this STUNNING
jacket by Roberto Cavalli that we simply had to share with you. This piece would
certainly make a statement, and we love it so much that we probably would never
take it off. Unfortunately, a jacket this chic usually doesn’t come cheap and
the $11,050 price tag is a little out of our price range right now. We guess
for now we will just have to admire from afar.
If you are a little luckier than us, you can buy this jacket here. Please just let us borrow it!

Because it is Friday...
We don't know about you, but fantasizing about wearing one of these gowns makes our day 100 times better. Does anyone have a black tie affair they need a date to as well as a few thousand dollars to spare to make this fantasy a reality? Honestly, we would wear gowns like this every day if we thought we could get away with it...Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
Weekend in NYC
I have a feeling that this is how I'm going to feel all weekend...like a princess and maybe a little intoxicated.

Bauble of the Week: Sunset by Harry Winston
This necklace would definitely help us get through our seasonal depression. A girl can't have too many baubles. What we love about this necklace is that it's so versatile; this would look ahh-mazing with jeans and a t-shirt, not to mention you could wear it year round.
NYC Packing
I was hoping this was going to encourage me to pack lightly...but it doesn't look like it. I'm the worst packer ever. I always over pack. Because what if I wake up and don't want to wear what I have; that would be devastating.

Too Excited to Concentrate...
Maybe if my office looked like this I would be able to concentrate a little and get some work done. Love how organized this space is.
Instead I'm so excited about going to NYC tomorrow that I don't want to do anything except sit here and look like this:
Haven't been very productive today, but I can.not.wait. to go to NYC tomorrow!

So Sweet...
I'm sure most of you have already seen this video, I meant to post it last week. But if you haven't then take a couple of minutes to watch a soldier surprise his family at the Georgia vs. South Carolina game! So sweet!!!!

Friday Humor...
I'm obsessed with Rebel Wilson ever since her interview on Ellen. I loved her in Bridesmaids, What to Expect When You Are Expecting, Bachelorette, and the list goes on. So here's some Rebel Wilson humor for you.
Bauble of the Week: Lulu Frost Crystal and Resin Spike Earrings
LOVING these Lulu Frost earrings. Let's be honest though- we love anything that is Lulu Frost. We are having a hard to time choosing where to put our fall budget- baubles or shoes?!? (Probably going more to the cocktails if we want to be completely honest with ourselves.) Buy these here.

The Grind
So since my schedule has been a little crazier than usual the past couple of weeks I haven't had tons of spare time. Which means that any time I do have is filled doing things I want to do, not things I should do like workout. I have good intentions and I always feel better afterwards, but I just haven't been in the mood. Well as I was making a random but awesome workout playlist (mostly consisting of random rap music which will be shared later on) I thought back to MTV in the 90's. This is basically because I was like wouldn't it be awesome if I could just have a dance party every day to workout. Then I realized I missed my true calling in life- I should have been a dancer on MTV's The Grind. For those of you who know me, I'm not delusional and I know that I have NO rhythm and I'm not a great dancer. But that doesn't matter because I love to dance, especially in a setting like The Grind. Did anyone else grow up watching this in the summers?? If you have no idea what I'm talking about check out this video.
So maybe I will try and go on a run today, or maybe I will just recreate The Grind in my house. Just noticed that this particular video took place in Las Vegas- I could definitely move to Vegas and be a dancer for The Grind- dream life.
Kate's Fall Shoe Wish List
Some of these may have appeared on the blog before now, but I still don't own them. These shoes are more "realistic" for my wish list then others, but some are still out of reach. Plus I don't think my fall budget covers 12 new pairs of shoes. One day.

Zara Home
I started this post yesterday when Zara Home officially launched but got carried away shopping online. There stuff is amazing. Seriously I owe so many people wedding presents and they just may be coming from here! Great prices and amazing products, that's seriously hard to beat.
Check out their website, but be prepared to spend some money: Zara Home.

Pumpkin Bars with Cream Cheese Icing
Ever since fall started I have seen tons of pumpkin recipes on pintrest. Finally I had to give in and try a new one. I wanted to make pumpkin bread but then I ran across these. They were DELICIOUS. The icing is amazing. The only thing I would change- I used a 9x13 pan when the recipe clearly calls for a larger pan. I would use the larger pan. Mine turned out pretty thick (as in tall) and needed more icing, but there really wasn't any other place for me to put the icing. So use the bigger pan like the recipe calls for so that yours are thinner than mine and the icing will be perfect!! Also, whenever I make homemade icing I always add the powdered sugar slowly and taste as I go- you don't want it to be too sweet. Other than that these were amazing. And super easy to make.
I told y'all I have been babysitting like crazy. To the point that I'm considering forming a babysitters club with Rebecca Jane. Anyway look at these cute guys- and they were such good helpers!
